In abstraction, all the noise disappears. I come ever closer to the essence.
In the process of searching for the essence of life, in 2013, I made a series of large paintings in porcelain. In them, I wanted to bring energy together in its most elementary form – a form that has everything within it and shimmers where the surface meets the space around it. This shimmering becomes visible when the work emerges from the kiln, the crystal glazes flown and melted into one another, creating a connection between the object and the space.
