A button is a silent witness in a man's life. It has seen and experienced everything, which lends it an emotional value. Upon my request to collect buttons for me, local residents handed in some 15,000 of them. The buttons, and through them the lives of people from the neighbourhood, have now been mixed. Each button has its own story to tell and evokes associations in maker and observer alike. In this project, buttons are used instead of paint, lending the work a soul. Residents made still lives of their own objects and than pasted their composition on a piece of cloth using buttons. The still lives produced were exhibited in the display window of MY HOME, with an immense tapestry of buttons in the centre, linked by a river of buttons arranged by colour.
